Push your sketching further through regular practice and personalised feedback.

Feeling stuck with your sketching?

You’re not alone! Many of us love sketching but struggle to stay motivated and practice regularly. That’s why I'm offering a new format for the first time: the Pragmatic Practice Sessions – a regular online get-together where we will sketch, experiment, chat and grow together.

This isn’t a traditional course with lessons or assignments. Instead it's a series of hands-on, live interactive practice sessions where you’ll draw alongside me and other like-minded sketchers. We’ll tackle a different theme every week and we also have 2 dedicated feedback sessions where we have a look at your work, your wins, challenges and struggles and I give concrete visual feedback, tips and options for how you could improve your work.

What's included?

  • 4 Live Practice Sessions
Watch over my shoulder as I sketch in real time and draw along. We have a different topic for each session:
    • People in action
    • People’s emotions
    • Finding images for abstract concepts
    • Sketchnoting a topic
  • 2 Live Feedback Sessions
Submit your work and receive personalized feedback to refine your skills, overcome current challenges and boost your confidence. Depending on the number of submissions, I may not be able to review everyone’s work, but I’ll choose a diverse range to ensure there are great learning moments for all.
  • Recordings of all sessions
You can re-watch any of the sessions or catch-up if you can't make it live. You will have access to the recordings for 3 years.
  • All drawings from the sessions as PDFs
  • Accountability & Motivation
Regular sessions and a friendly group of other sketchers will help you develop a consistent practice habit.

Cost

The whole series of six sessions costs 120 EUR, so 20 EUR per 2 hour session (similar to a weekly yoga class or a couple of drinks out with friends per week).

Why join the practice sessions?

Regular Practice Works!

Sketching consistently is the fastest way to see improvement. With a fixed time slot reserved in your calendar, these sessions provide a structure and motivation to stay committed.

Learn by Watching

Seeing someone’s process in real time can be more inspiring and insightful than tutorials. I’ll sketch with and for you in real time, solve the visual challenges as they arise (shitty first drafts, failures and several attempts included) and talk you through my thinking process along the way.

Community Support

We’ll be a group of people who all share a passion for sketching, each on your own stage of the journey with lots of questions and experiences we can share. Seeing other people’s work, their approach and and their challenges can be encouraging, inspiring and insightful.

Personalized Feedback

Improve faster with actionable tips for tackling real-world challenges that arise when practicing. Any kind of visual thinking related work can be submitted – from simple sketching studies to full sketchnotes or real projects where you used visualisation for your work – so we will have a rich set of examples to learn from.

FAQs

Do I need to be an experienced sketcher?

Not at all! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned sketcher, you’ll find value in these sessions. It’s all about practicing and experimenting.

How do we practice?

I chose a topic for each practice session and we will sketch together within this topic. Depending on the topic we'll use photo references, sketch from memory, visualise a text or the content from a talk. When you sign up you can also suggest specific things you might want to practice within each topic.
There will also be room for questions and exchange during the sessions.

What tools do I need?

You can sketch digitally or traditionally—whichever feels most comfortable for you. I will sketch analogously with pens and paper to demonstrate.

What happens if I miss a session?

No worries! All sessions will be recorded and shared on the course platform you'll have access to.

How do the feedback sessions work?

You can submit your work for feedback before the session. Depending on the number of submissions, I may not be able to review everyone’s work, but I’ll choose a diverse range to ensure there are great learning moments for all. Observing how others tackle challenges and applying the feedback to your own work is an incredibly powerful way to grow.

I'd love you to join our practice!

It's the first time I'm offering this format and I am excited to practice, learn and experiment with you.
